Arsenal may move into the transfer market to sign Real Madrid striker, Mariano Diaz, in a deal that could cost £18million, the UK Mirror reports.
Though the Gunners currently have two world-class strikers in Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Diaz’s low fee could be tempting to Unai Emery, the Arsenal boss.
Drumbeat News understands Arsenal have been handed a modest transfer budget of £45million in the current window and are struggling hard to spread it over areas that need attention in the squad.
Emery is understood to have identified a winger, full back and centre back as urgent needs for the squad ahead of the new season.
However, the option of a new back-up forward in the mold of Diaz with a considerable low fee could be an attraction.
The striker returned to the Bernabeu last summer after an impressive spell at Lyon, but has failed to live up to expectations at the La Liga club and may soon be on his way out again.
Diaz still has four years left on his current contract with Madrid.
