The Police in Niger have confirmed the death of an unidentified man whose body was found hanging on a tree in Gusase village of Bosso Local government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Minna on Monday.
Elkana said that the deceased had no form of identification on him and was found dead, hanging on a tree.
He said that the deceased must have committed suicide, adding that the reasons behind his death had yet to be discovered by the police.
“The deceased had a rope around his neck, which tells that he must have committed suicide,” he said.
The PPRO assured that investigation would be carried out to determine the actual cause of his death.
Earlier, Rtd Col. Mohammed Maikudi, had told journalists that an anonymous farmer who was going to the farm saw a lifeless body of the man hanging on a tree and alerted security personnel.
“The farmer alerted men of the State Security Service (SSS), stationed around the community, who came to the scene only to realise that the man was dead.
“His bag and belongings were found with him”, he added.
