Young women who have allegedly been sexually abused by their pastors while growing up in the Moravian Church are beginning to speak out.

Some of them have been taking to social media sites talking about their ordeal.

“Eleven years ago Sir, I still remember and I am ready to speak,” one of them posted.

Others have been seeking the intervention of professionals.

Based on The Gleaner’s  investigations, the victims were teenagers at the time of the alleged abuse.

Social commentator and gender specialist Nadeen Spence who grew up in the Moravian Church is among the people seeking to help the victims.

She says it has been especially difficult for some of them who feel they are reliving the experiences.

According to Spence, none of the alleged victims is yet ready to go to the police as they are still dealing with the trauma.

The president of the Moravian Church in Jamaica, Dr Paul Gardner told The Gleaner/Power 106 News last week that the church has been deeply affected by the scandal.
