There are strong indications that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state may have perfected plans to dump the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP for All Progressive Congress, APC ahead of 2019 general elections.

An impeccable source hinted DRUMBEATNEWS that a meeting was held a week ago where the Minister of Petroleum for State, Mr Ibe Kachukwu disclosed to those present that Okowa must do two terms.

The source quoted him to have said “Urhobo has had their turn and so it’s Okowa’s turn”. Kachukwu, it was gathered from sources privy to the meeting warned that if Governor Okowa does not defect to APC, his party would present a candidate from Delta North who according to him may clinch the seat. He appealed to stakeholders at the meeting to prevail on Okowa moving to APC. “I don’t want another Anioma man in that seat except Okowa”, sources quoted him to have said. One Sen Ojudu is also pushing Okowa into defecting to APC.

It was also gathered from a government house source that one Patrick Ogbechie and other PDP agents were introduced to the Minister by Okowa. The source who craved anonymity told our correspondent that Mr Kachukwu is empowering PDP agents in readiness for Okowa’s APC ticket in 2019. “Other appointees he sponsored like Aboloma of Standard Organisation of Nigeria do not want to have anything to do with APC members as they are all working towards projecting Okowa for 2019”, the source added. Following Mr Kachukwu’s position on Okowa second term, fresh political intrigue is brewing in Delta State APC as party members who are angry have vowed to resist the Minister and Governor Okowa.
